2011 Chardonnay, 'Center of Effort'

The Chardonnays which we have released to date, along with those which we are still tending in barrel, have begun to tell a clear tale of place and nurture and intent – what we call ‘Terroir’ in the parlance of wine.  Our Chardonnay wines ring with natural acidity and structure in balance with their richness, and have turned many heads.

The 2011 vintage carries on in this vein, with initial mineral aromas of sea-spray and slate that move toward Meyer lemon and Verbena.  The palate fruit character is mild, a blend of Asian pear and crisp nectarine.  There are persistent spice notes of cardamom pod, coriander, and a suggestion of clean hay which lingers through the prolonged finish.  This wine is balanced, and shows well now, but the natural acidity it possesses will allow it to develop gracefully for years if cellared properly.   (Only 576 six-bottle cases were produced)
